The Third Mission (Public Engagement) of the University complements the two main functions of the university, scientific research and education, with the specific mandate of disseminating culture and knowledge and transferring research results outside the academic context, contributing to social growth and cultural orientation in the local area.
It is therefore a question of enhancing the application of the products of teaching and research, promoting discussion, exchange, and mutual development between the University and stakeholders, in relation to the local area and social contexts of reference, in order to build a knowledge-based society.
The Scipog Department has a Research, Teaching, and Third Mission Committee (RDTM) that assists the Director in defining and monitoring annual strategic objectives for research, teaching, and the third mission, as well as in planning improvement measures and verifying their effectiveness. It reviews research and third mission activities, identifying strengths and weaknesses and formulating proposals for improvement. It may submit proposals on research activities and criteria for the distribution of related funds within the Department. It promotes communication within the Department and with other structures involved in research and third mission processes.
The Research, Teaching, and Third Mission Committee currently includes Professors A. Morelli, D. Caroniti, M.F. Tommasini, A. Lupo, V. Calabrò, F. Martines, A.M. Citrigno, M.G. Recupero, and Dr. S. Paratore.
